Anklosing Spondylitis

I am 55 now.  When I started this web site I was 51 and had been diagnosed with AS about 11 years ago.  Daily life can be exasperating and trying.  Family members try to understand but it is hard for them to realize the scope of the disease and the pain and limitations it can cause. I decided to ad these pages and pass along some of the info I have picked up, some tips for coping with this disease and perhaps make a few new friends along the way.  I have tried to make this site fun as well as informative.  Thanks for stopping and visiting my site.

*PLEASE NOTE:
I am not a medical anything.  All the information, survery, suggestions etc., come from years of personal experience and talking with the hundreds of people I have met who also suffer from AS and other forms of arthritis.  AS is a funny disease that can produce symptoms and problems that are not associated with your muscles or bones.  Quite a few people have been written off by their doctors as hypocondriacs or just dismissed as overly sensitive or too self absorbed.

People with AS are sick, sore, tired and in pain.  This can make us cranky, short on patience, a trifle "testy" as my kids like to say.  We can suffer from a myriad of other diseases:  irritable bowel syndrome, fibromyalgia, chronic fatigue, iritis, yucky skin, poor balance, poor eye sight and on and on.  If you don't have it then you can't imagine what it feels like.  And if you do have it, then read on.  Perhaps there is something here that can help.
